Grungy Tattered Floral Headband... Pretty in Pink
with an Eye for Steampunk

Hi everyone! I know it's been awhile – I have several new hats that I am wearing now, but I am still creating. A couple weeks back, I took a workshop from Dyan Reaveley and learned all about her bright, colorful art journaling techniques. I had a blast!

I need to gush a little... because I am so excited!!! Have you seen the new Summer Issue of PaperHaus Magazine??? This tattered floral headband is featured as part of the Amazing Crafting Products Ad that appears in this new issue of PaperHaus.

I'm so thrilled to be the new Creative Team Coordinator for Amazing Crafting Products and so proud that my entire creative team is featured on this Amazing Crafting Products Ad.

This flower is so gorgeous with several layers of vintage lace dress detailing, tulle, burlap and muslin fabric die-cut flowers grunged up with Ranger Ink Adirondack Paint Daubers and Antique Linen Distress Stain. I added just a touch of steampunk flair by attaching a cast vintage bezel using Amazing Casting Resin colored with Alumilite Pearlescent and Silver Metallic Powders. The lace detailing was a bright pink, which is why the flower has a slight pink tone also - all inked to match with a little paint to tone down the pink and a little ink to add some pink to the layers. For an "all things purple" girl... I really LOVE this! I get so many compliments when I wear this, people are surprised to hear that I made it.

Be sure to check out the PaperHaus "Summer Delight" event - its all about fun summer days filled with scrapbooking and crafting! Everyday in June on the PaperHaus Blog, there will be amazing inspiration and tutorials.

Thanks for stopping by and have a fantastic day!  Sb  :)

Celebrating Earth Day... Once Project at a Time!

Welcome to sbartist : daylight musings for LeslieRahye's Second Annual EARTH DAY Bloghop.

I love to recycle and I always try to creatively repurpose everyday items - and - this has me constantly making things and always finding something new to ARTfully Upcycle. This project is an altered Laughing Cow Cheese Box all decked out to present a gift card for a birthday party!

With some patterned paper scraps, some bits of ribbon and a little bling, this box has been transformed to a fun and festive gift card holder... complete with a repurposed candle, too! It doesn't take a whole lot of supplies or time to create a handmade gift box - and can be changed up to fit your occasion, whether a birthday, a wedding or a thank-you! To watch a how-to of how I created this, please CLICK HERE.

MARCH RECAP of Saturday Crafts Fair Episodes...

I know it's been a while since I've posted here - but I've been quite busy in this new year. There's so many exciting things going on and all of them pulling me in all CREATIVE directions. It's APRIL! I'm sitting here contemplating where the year has gone so far and it dawns on me... I have a weekly show online. Except for a couple odd Saturdays - I have been streaming every Saturday on the Saturday Crafts Fair on Linqto since the beginning of December. This makes the weekend extremely busy...but in a fun way! I'm creating every week - so I have something to demo and share. The scale that balances work and play is ever so slightly moving higher to the PLAY side - and that's a GOOD THING.

Here's a recap of the demonstrations from March over

March 30, 2013 RECAP Making greencrafted easter baskets and an impromptu experimental mold putty project.

March 23, 2013 RECAP Making Button Fairies

March 16, 2013 RECAP Making scrapbook page in a box

March 9, 2013 RECAP Masking tape technique and stamping to create an altered paintbrush.

March 2, 2013 RECAP Using GESSO to make collage backgrounds from junk mail/magazine images.

Hope to See you There!!!

FYI - there are mobile apps now for iPhone/iPad and Google/HTC devices.

Do you have creative playtime on Saturdays? Saturday Crafts Fair on Linqto is the place to be starting at 2pm EST / 11am PST! Please join me live weekly at 4:00pm EST {1pm PST} in the Daylight Musings room. I am demonstrating live and I share my projects, how-to's, tips and tricks and more. I hope to see you there!  : ) Sb

Greencrafting and Artful Upcycling is My Hobby for LeslieRahye's National Hobby Month Bloghop

WELCOME to LeslieRahye's National Hobby Month Bloghop. I love greencrafting and this year I have been focusing on all things I've recycled and put aside for the UPCYCLE this INTO box. I love artfully giving new life to something headed for the recycle bin or trash. This weekend I am transforming a recycled Tequila box packaging into an Asian themed lamp. I'm using an Asian themed ATC for my inspiration.

I will be lighting up my box with one of those battery powered LED puck lights you can get at any store. I got mine in a 2 pack at my grocery store. These pucklights are so handy, are bright and use little power and have a batteries that can be changed. Please check back by throughout the day for a complete how-to on how I transform this box into a lamp. To see a video demo of the beginnings of this project, please CLICK HERE.

Here are a few of my favorite
greencrafted/upcycled projects...

I've created this mini paper purse book from a recycled ribbon spool. With some pretty scrapbook papers, stamping and ribbons - I have super girly keepsake.

This empty strawberry basket has been transformed for Easter - it's totally woven and wrapped in bright springtime colored May Arts ribbon.

This butterfly aviary is handmade using a recycled liquor bottle dome and the grass in the bottom is shredded dollar bills from the US MINT.

I've given this vintage candy-cane shaped cookie cutter a beautiful redux and transformed it into a stunning ornament with some sparkly May Arts Ribbon.

This altered book page is made from recycled scraps from other projects and tags from the dry cleaning, and the envelope holding a hidden pull-out tag is for an instruction manual to affix to the refrigerator. Anything and everything has potential for creative re-use.

Thanks so much for dropping by. Please click the blocks below to visit the other Hobby Lovers on this unique bloghop. I hope you have a wonderful weekend and are able to have some time for your favorite hobby. : ) Sb

Manic Artist Monday...I'm the Crazy ARTIST!!!

Happy Monday everyone! This new year I have started off with a BANG! I'm doing Nathalie Kalbach's Jumpstart, exercising, making time for me, and everything that was already going on when 2012 ended. Next week I will resume the regularly scheduled master artist.

Please enjoy this collage that I made using a bunch of leftovers I had been hoarding for a special project! This week's Shopping Our Stash Challenge #83 "All white or cream" was my motivation...ENJOY!  Sb :)
